Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who can sign off on PQS’?

A.  Generally, an Auxiliary verifying officer will be a graduate of AUX-12, the PA C School, and have already completed the qualification level that you are seeking.  Active Duty PA’s,  SO-PA’s or SAO-PA may sign as well.  If the task involves completion of a task on behalf of your unit, elected or appointed officers associated with the task may act as a verifying officer.

Q.  How are oral boards conducted?

A.  Usually via telephone.  Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) systems such as SKYPE are usually utilized.

Q.  If a person has significant experience in Public affairs, can she/he become a Public Affairs specialist without completing the required training and PQS’?

A.  Yes.  That person should send a resume of his/her experience, education, etc. in PA to the Deputy Chief of Public Affairs.  If found qualified, BC-ANT will schedule an Oral Board.  Assuming the person completes the Oral Board satisfactorily, the letter to the appropriate DIRAUX will indicate that the courses, etc. have been waived by the Chief of the Public Affairs Department.
